In Memory of Steven & Jackie Lewis Support Group
This fundraising group was first formed by the late Jackie Lewis in memory of her son Steven Lewis who was cared for by the Hospice in 2012. Their fundraising appeal went from strength to strength and with the help of friends and family, Jackie went onto raise over £60,000 before becoming terminally ill herself.
After sadly losing Jackie in 2019, the group knew straight away that they wanted to carry on the legacy that been started. Matt, son of Jackie & Brian alongside Sue, Gill & Mo have been hard at work throughout lockdown to keep their fundraising total climbing.
Over the years they have held raffles for Christmas and Easter, photo competitions, sponsored walks, 5k jogs and birthday fundraisers. The festive fundraising Christmas raffle raised a fantastic £644! This was such a welcomed donation towards nursing care for our patients and their families.
Sue & Gill have just set themselves a new challenge and are gearing up to dig our their trainers and walk the distance of a half marathon. They both support the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon every year but this time it’s their chance to go the distance. You can support them here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jackieandstevenlewis and follow their progress via Facebook @BluebellesH Go girls!
Their fundraising has hit an incredible total of £72,000 last week. Matt who works for Zurich was joined virtually by his colleagues to enjoy a fun filled race night. They all donated back their winnings from the evening raising £400. Gareth Williams from Zurich organised the Race Night and is kindly match funding the virtual event to £400 via Zurich match funding scheme.
Matt said “Zurich as a company has been amazing and work colleagues fantastic when everything is so tight financially at the moment, I’m so grateful for their continued support.”
The group are already preparing for their Easter Raffle so watch this space for further information and a chance to win some chocolate delights.
