In anticipation of our KLA City of Newport Half Marathon on Sunday 1st March 2026, one of our biggest fundraising events, Kevin Ward has shared a powerful piece in the South Wales Argus about St David's Hospice Care, and the importance of our community and fundraising
"Newport is home to one of the biggest caring organisations on these isles. It should be a source of pride for us all – not least because the incredible care it provides to people at the end of their lives is entirely free of charge."

St David’s Hospice Care is a charitable organisation providing comprehensive, palliative care to patients, their families and carers facing life-limiting illnesses.
We provide a large range of expert services offering care and support and specialise in pain relief and symptom control to help people live and have the best quality of life possible. Our services are delivered from the comfort of our patient's homes or our purpose built in-patient hospice. We believe everyone should have access to high quality and compassionate palliative and end of life care, where and whenever they need it. These services are free of charge, however it costs £15,000 every day to provide our care.
St. David’s has grown to become one of the UK’s largest provider of hospice at home care, caring for over 3,700 patients and families every year, serving communities in South East Wales (Newport, Caerphilly, Torfaen, Monmouthshire, as well as Mid and South Powys.)
