St Pierre Ladies' Captain Donation

Ladies Captain at St Pierre Golf Club makes significant donation after year in office.

Hilary Matheson donated a fantastic £5,447.00 this week after her year in office as Ladies Captain at St Pierre Golf Club.

Hilary said, “After a career spent educating young people & understanding how important structure and a stable family environment is, it became clear to me that this can be interrupted in a great many ways with long term ramifications for the individual and their life progress.  Providing/offering a safe place for exploration of episodes of disruption is hugely important in ensuring a pathway to success.  COVID-19 has had, and continues to have, a huge impact on society, families and general well-being.  This impact will continue for a long time as the implications of lockdown, deaths of loved ones with little closure due to restrictions are inadequately addressed. 

I learnt about the St David’s Hospice Care Unicorn Service via my running group and what it provides for young people seemed a wonderful way to help these individuals who seem to be under the radar in relation to guidance.  It became a 'no brainer' for me to have this as my charity during my year of Captaincy.  St David's Hospice is local and everyone knows about it which also made it a logical choice.  It has been my pleasure to raise funds over the past year and I have really enjoyed the events put on for this purpose.” 

Hilary would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people: Ladies Captain Committee members, friends and staff at St Pierre Golf Club and Hotel. Liam Bond for attending the Charity Golf Day, John Lewis store in Bristol as well as Debbie Ling and the team for helping to organise an Evening of fashion fundraising event. Lastly, George Benitez, a Junior player from St Pierre who sold raffle tickets & guess the number of tees in the jar!
