Long-time supporter Kelvin has once again raised incredible funds through the Sale of Historic Chartist Prints - In April, we visited the Chartist Heritage Hub in Newport to receive a generous donation of £760 through such great fundraising!

These iconic prints are now available to purchase at the Chartist Heritage Hub in Newport : Our Chartist Heritage | Newport Rising Festival | Westgate Buildings, Newport, UK

Newport holds a proud and significant place in the history of the Chartist movement. It was the scene of the Newport Rising of 1839 — one of the most dramatic events in British working-class history — when thousands of Chartists marched on the town in a bold demand for political rights and democratic reform for ordinary working people. The movement’s legacy remains deeply woven into the identity of Newport to this day.

The story of these prints began when Kelvin photographed Newport’s celebrated Chartist Mural before it was removed from public display. Recognising the historical importance of the artwork, Kelvin contacted Oliver Budd, whose late father Kenneth Budd was the creator of the original mural, to seek permission to reproduce the images for charitable purposes. Oliver Budd — himself a celebrated artist of considerable renown — generously granted permission to reproduce his late father’s work, ensuring that Kenneth Budd’s remarkable artistic legacy would continue to benefit those in need.

Kelvin has supported the Hospice for many years - making a truly lasting difference raising well over £20,000 from many fundraisers over the years.

A special thanks also goes to Oliver Budd for granting Kelvin permission to reproduce his late Father, Kenneth Budd's, iconic work.
