Phil Bessant Accountants has hit its target of £100,000 for St David’s Hospice Care

The accountancy firm, based in Clytha Park Road, Newport, adopted St David’s Hospice Care as its nominated charity and has completed a wide range of events to raise funds over many years.

The accountants initially set themselves a target of raising £5,000 but boosted this to raising £50,000 in five years. The target figure kept moving until £100,000 was set in stone as the magic figure Phil and his team wanted to raise.

Over the years, the team at Phil Bessant Accountants Ltd have staged Quiz Nights, Race Nights, Golf Day’s, Sports Dinner’s and even Phil being put in the cells under Newport Market for which he raised an incredible sum of over £10,000 to be released. A familiar home for some events has been the Fugitives Club, in High Cross Newport where the Accountants also held a cheese and wine, a horse racing evening and much more.

Phil Bessant, Managing Director of the practice, said:

“We went way beyond our initial target of raising £5,000 so we set the bar a little higher at £50,000 and then moved to £100,000. We held regular events with a loyal group of clients.”

“Everyone in the office has been involved in the effort to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care. I am delighted at the sum of money we have managed to collect and would like to thank all the people who have supported our effort over the years. St David’s Hospice is a very special place, the services are extremely valued by the Community it serves and it’s a charity very close to us which we are passionate to support.”

What’s next for the team at Phil Bessant Accountants?

Having hit the £100,000 milestone, the team this recently took a group of supporters to  The Rock pub in Blackwood where they celebrated Beaujolais Day whilst once again raising funds.

Phil Bessant and the team wish to continue their fundraising for St David’s Hospice Care. Phil said, “We love the way our friends, family and clients come together to help us raise this money for such an amazing cause.”

Before they plan the events for 2025 and beyond they are planning a celebration party for achieving such a wonderful milestone where they will be inviting people who have supported them along the way. The event will be held at the Fugitives Club in High Cross, Rogerstone for a relaxed evening. More details to be published soon, watch this space.
