We are delighted to share that ITV Wales recently filmed a documentary about St David’s Hospice Care. It's an insight into the work of the Hospice called ‘The Hospice: Caring to the End’ as part of a Wales This Week special. The documentary was aired on 21st October and is available to watch on ITVX. |

Mon Motors van donation and Ford in the community

Long time supporters of over 25 years Mon Motors, Newport kindly provided another van for our Health & Safety Advisor, enabling efficient travel between the Hospice’s shops and sites. Alongside this, we were also supported with Ford: Drive 4 Ur Community, taking place on 18th October - for every test drive of a selection of brand new Ford Vehicle, £30 was donated to the hospice with over 100 supporters on the day an amazing £3,480 was raised which will make a meaningful difference to the Hospice. Thank you to all who visited and such great support. |
Glow Dash and Winter Sale

October entailed our inaugural Glow Dash event, sponsored by ETLP Solicitors taking place at Tredegar Park, Newport. The evening saw over 700 runners light up the 5k route - with live music along the way, disco, paint and cheer stations the event raised vital funds and was fun for all! |

We also hosted a hugely popular Winter Sale at The Parkway Hotel - filled with wonderful seasonal items raising funds for the hospice. We are so grateful to all who visited and supported, helping to make the day a great success. |
TVA and GAVO awards

During October some of our dedicated volunteers receive well-deserved awards in recognition of their support and fundraising. Jean got into the finals of Torfaen Community and Volunteer Awards, recognising the incredible support Jean provides across the fundraising team for so many years - from volunteering at events, hosting a hugely popular Big Welsh Brew every March, making hampers and so much more! Heather won two awards in at GAVO and South Wales Community Awards - recognising the outstanding work of Heather and Team Nic fundraising In Loving Memory of Nichala Gallivan, Team Nic's fundraising total stands at over an incredible £28,000 for St David's - an amount that continues to make a huge difference to us. Our Chairman Jim also won a GAVO award - Jim has volunteered with St David’s Hospice Care for over 22 years, with roles including vice-chair, trustee and taking on the role of Chairman since 2022. Alongside this essential role, every Monday, Jim volunteers at our Hospice Café providing a friendly welcome to all who visit, whilst also being an avid fundraiser. |
Volunteering and support at our Hospice Gardens

On 20th October, local business' came together to support the hospice and take part in our bulb jamboree day, planting over 1,000 bulbs across our garden sites in Newport. |

We were also grateful to have teams of volunteers from Admiral during October, with many jobs completed across our gardens ready for the Winter. |

BTM Brass Band

The 18th October saw Caerphilly Support Group's BTM Brass Band Night, taking place at St Martins Church - the evening was a huge success, filled with wonderful live music, a brilliant raffle and delicious refreshments, including mince pies. We are so grateful to all who supported! |

On 17th October a wonderful team of Hospice Hero Volunteers joined us at our Bucket Collection as the supported charity for the Dragons RFC vs Cardiff Rugby game. |

Wonderful community fundraising events

At the beginning of October - It was lovely to meet Barbara and Bryan to celebrate their impactful fundraising. On 17th August a wonderful 'Tea and Cake' Afternoon was held in support of the hospice and raised an outstanding £360! A big thank you also to Sue Brown, Dawn House and Sue Prangley for volunteering and supporting the event to help make it a successful day! |

A big thank you to Cardiff Scan Club for supporting St David's Hospice Care. Recently, a Charity Fundraising Day was held in aid of the hospice courtesy of Mark and Lorraine Legge - including a raffle, metal detecting and much more! An incredible £420 was raised from the day, a total that will make a valuable difference to us. |
Shed Some Good Raffle

At the end of October, the 'Shed Some Good Raffle' was drawn, and raised an incredible £1,121 for St David's Hospice Care. A tremendous thank you to Deka Sheds for supporting the hospice through this fantastic raffle In Loving Memory of Julie Hooper - with a winning prize of a bespoke shed, worth £900! We are so very grateful to all who took part and helped to raise such a transformative amount. |

We were grateful to meet members of Marmaduke Tennant Chapter, Number 1992 to receive an incredibly kind donation of £1,000 in loving memory of Avril James this month. Such support is hugely vital to the hospice and will make a significant difference, thank you so very much |
