Grandad's Great Walk |

August marked the moment, 'Welsh Grandad' crossed the finish line of his mammoth 462 mile walk! Setting off from Lowestoft on 21st June, the journey followed along the Via Beata route. With family, friends and supporters along the way, John continued his incredible journey, reaching the finish line at St David’s Head on 11th August, where he was greeted with well-deserved cheers and celebrations. This magnificent fundraiser is supporting 4 important charities - St David's Hospice Care, Farleigh Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK; with over a phenomenal £70,000 raised! Thank you John for being a Hospice Hero, and thank you also to every single person who donated, joined the walks virtually or in-person, shared, or supported in your own way. This special fundraiser is a true highlight of community spirit and togetherness. |

The 26th August saw the return of Kolor Dash, Cwmbran - with lots of colour, fun and over 1,000 participants filling Cwmbran North & South Fields to raise vital funds for the Hospice. Sponsored by AFT Corporate Facilities, the event was filled with live music and performances, plenty of bright powdered paint along the 5k route, bubbles and Europe's BIGGEST foam cannon. A special thank you to every one who took part, raised sponsorship, volunteered and helped to make a huge difference! If you're looking for your next exciting event - Glow Dash is back this October |

The Big Bike Bash |

It was wonderful to welcome Aaron and Lee to the Hospice this month to celebrate their truly incredible fundraising The 'Big Bike Bash' for Keith and Lyn, entailed cycling from North to South Wales through a blistering heatwave, huge hills and lots of challenges! Their determination and commitment shone through and the ride was completed, raising a fantastic £3,250 for the Hospice. Thank you so much for your support - our community are at the heart of the Hospice ensuring we can continue providing our vital care. Well done both, you are Hospice Heroes |

The Wheatsheaf Inn charity golf day organised by Martin Kunz raised an amazing £311.50 for St David's Hospice Care, as well as supporting Velindre with the further proceeds. A great day was had by all and a heartfelt thank you for such generous support! |

100 Miles For Mum Fundraiser |

Hospice Hero, Lowri successfully completed an immense challenge for the Hospice recently - a 100 mile cycle from from New Quay in West Wales, back home to Newport South Wales This carefully planned route equated to 10 miles for every month Lowri has been without mum, Lisa who was support by St David's Lowri self-planned the route, and took on this amazing ride after only recently starting up with cycling. Despite facing many hills and challenges along the way - Lowri was determined to finish! A truly phenomenal £4,271.54 has been raised for the Hospice and we couldn't be more grateful. This amount will make a huge difference to us Lowri shared "I’m overjoyed with all the support and kindness I’ve received in the run up to and the days of the ride. The conditions were great, the challenge was hard, but definitely worth it - and my mum would be so pleased with the atmosphere that I came home to after 100 miles." |
Chepstow to Chester Cycle |

August was filled with many phenomenal cycling challenges, including Wayne's amazing fundraising achievement. We welcomed Wayne to the Hospice today, alongside close friends who had supported his fundraiser, to celebrate an incredible total raised Wayne solo cycled from Chepstow to Chester, over 500 miles, to support St David's in loving memory of Gail and raised a transformative £2,706.38! Wayne's determination throughout this immense challenge was inspiring and we couldn't be more grateful for such wonderful support that will make a huge difference to us. Well done, Wayne |
100 Miles in August |

Fundraiser Louis, took on an incredible challenge throughout the month of August in aid of St David's Hospice Care Starting on the 1st August, Louis ran 5km every day for 30 days, before finishing with 11km on the final day to make it 100 miles throughout the month! Louis shared "The support they (St David's Hospice Care) gave [...] is something I’ll never forget, and this is my way of saying thank you while helping them continue supporting other families when they need it most." A huge well done and thank you to everyone that joined Louis along the way! |

Thank you Roberts Limbrick LTD for your hugely valued support once again Their inaugural quiz night was held on 22nd July at Dunkertons Park and proved a huge success, raising a truly wonderful total split between St David's Hospice Care and James Hopkins Trust We were delighted to highlight the incredible donation of £2,650 at our Newport Hospice site recently! We are so grateful to all involved - your support means we can continue providing our essential care and services across South East Wales |

August was a busy month of gardening, ensuring our spaces remain a serene and welcoming space - a special thank you to teams from Admiral, Lloyds, Bright Link and Vent Air Cooling. From painting, weeding and lots of planting to maintain our lovely gardens! We are very grateful for such valued support, volunteers are at the heart of the hospice making such a difference in so many ways |
