Lloyds Bank Rugby Lunch

We are delighted to announce the Annual Rugby Lunch returns on Friday, January 28th, 2022 and we would like to invite you to join us at The Mercure Hotel, Cardiff from 1 PM for an eventful afternoon whilst helping raise vital funds for St David’s Hospice Care.

After a year’s break we are pleased to be able to bring you the well-established Rugby Lunch which is always held just prior to the start of the Six Nations. LLoyds Bank match funds the monies raised on the day and have now exceeded £212,000 for various local charities. Always a highly entertaining afternoon, this year we have guest speakers Adrian Hadley, Glenn Webbe and Mark Ring. Back by popular demand will be the fantastic comedian Rod Woodward.

Format of the event:

  • Meeting from 12 Noon for a catch up and informal networking in readiness for lunch and ‘kick-off’ at 1.15pm
  • A 3 course meal, speakers, auction and raffle with an aim to finish around 4.30pm.

Compere – Phil Steele


Broadcaster and former schoolteacher Phil Steele is one of Wales’ most popular after dinner speakers. His strong sporting background as a former top class welsh rugby player with Newport RFC in the 1980’s together with his role as a mirthful radio presenter and sports commentator for BBC Wales radio and television have enabled him to develop a wide variety of material. Phil is a great supporter of the work of the Hospice movement.
