Duncan Maclean will be taking on a 100 mile bike ride around Texas in the USA in December this year, raising vital funds for St Davids Hospice Care. Last year his 8 year old son, Luke, challenged him to ride 100 miles in a day, a challenge he duly accepted. Since then, his sister-in-law Melanie Nicholas has passed away after a long battle with cancer and his family thought it be a fantastic idea to dedicate a ride to her memory whilst raising funds for St David’s Hospice Care.

Mel with Duncan

Duncan says…

I moved from the north east of England in 2001 to marry Mel’s sister, and in 2002 she moved to south Wales. She lived her life to the fullest, had a huge smile and an infectious laugh. Mel had a million friends, and had never met a stranger.

Mel was a patient at Ystrad hospital, in south Wales, for the last few months of her life. She spoke very highly of the care and attention she received under their care. Mel loved her make-up sessions and having her hair done. She loved the food, which is something that is not normally associated with hospitals! It’s not everyday an American would be in their care, and the staff made her feel very special and loved.

Thank you for all you have done for Mel, you made her last few months very comfortable, and for that we are eternally grateful.

Please share and support if you can.”
