Memory Garden
The Memory Garden offers a peaceful place for all; created for reflection, remembrance, and quiet connection.
Nestled within the hospice grounds and surrounded by flowers, greenery, and the gentle sound of water, our beautiful memory garden is open to everyone and offers a calm, comforting space to pause, remember loved ones, or simply enjoy a moment of peace .
Visitors can sit quietly on the benches, walk among the planting, or spend time at the Wind Phone — a special place to speak to those no longer with us, sharing thoughts, memories, and words left unsaid.
Whether you visit alone or with others, during the brightness of the day or the quiet of the evening, we hope this space brings comfort, connection, and tranquility.
Address: St David's Hospice Care, Blackett Avenue, Newport, NP20 6NH. Located besides our In-Patient Unit
The Wind Phone
"Let the wind carry your words"
The Wind Phone is a quiet, private space created for anyone who wishes to feel close to someone they miss. Originally inspired by the idea that words carried on the wind can help us express thoughts and feelings that remain in our hearts, the Wind Phone offers a comforting opportunity to speak openly to loved ones who are no longer with us.
There is no right or wrong way to use the Wind Phone. Some people choose to share memories, speak about their day, say the things they never had the chance to say, or simply sit in silence for a moment of connection and reflection. The space is here for you without judgement or expectation.
The Wind Phone is not connected to any telephone line — instead, it symbolises connection, remembrance, and the enduring bonds we carry with those we love.
We invite you to use the space in whatever way feels meaningful to you, and to take as much time as you need in the calm surroundings of the Memory Garden.
